The municipality of Tresviso has an only village of the same name, inhabited by a hundred neighbours, more or less. It's located on the west-end of Cantabria and is part of the Urdon valley; a river flowing through a gorge colonised by an extensive wood, where oaks and lime trees predominate; although there are also other species like elms, service and beech trees. It is worth mentioning an extraordinary beech wood on the mountain range called "La Corta", and the impressive track starting at the Hermida gorge which takes us up to the observation area called "El balcón de Pilatos". Because of its geographical location, Tresviso sits at 848 m, and the economic activity of this tiny village is directed towards mountain livestock exploitations (cattle, sheep and goats) which serve as the manufacturing base of one of the best known natural products: the "Picón" cheese. Also, this is one of the favourite places for mountaineers and excursionists. The municipality has a great popular atmosphere due to its loneliness and a very simple architecture: austere buildings using noble woods, stone and tiles.
