Being the main tourist and interest focus in the region of Liébana, people here mostly works in the services sector. The proximity to Picos de Europa makes Potes the neuralgic centre of tourism. The village gastronomy is of great popularity, based on regional autochthonous products: vegetables, legumes, corn, potatoes, as well as the wine "tostadillo" and liquor "orujo".

The tower of the Infantado, current town council, is their main and older, XV century identity sign with a rich artistic patrimony. Also the tower of Orejón de la Lama and the Gothic church of San Vicente stand out.
