Situated in the village of Espinama - key entry to the Oriental Massif of Picos de Europa - the mountain hotel Máximo is presented as an alternative accommodation, comfortable and with a special family atmosphere for customers.

An extensive hostelry experience, endorses the human team integrated by the hotel staff.


It´s got 10 comfortable double rooms available with bathrooms, TV, telephone, and central heating, as well as a restaurant with room for 68 people, where you can taste the typical cooking of the region; lebaniego stew and roasted lamb. There´s also the local cheeses, with origin designation, like those from Aliva, "Quesucos de Liébana", Pido and Tresviso, as well as a great variety of local desserts.

One of the most attractive services the hotel offers is the four-wheel-drive-vehicle routes around Picos de Europa, being the pioneers in this kind of activity. Also other activities like; trekking, fishing and hunting are specially favoured thanks to the privileged location of the hotel, in one of the most beautiful natural surroundings of the Cantabrian mountains.

Nature admirers will be able to find in the valley of Camaleño and all of Liébana generally, huge autocthonous forests. Fauna wise, there are still some wild specimens of brown bear and cappercaille, very difficult to see or find.

 


Ancient highland houses, towers, monasteries, hermitages and churches make the historical and cultural spectrum of the valley of Liébana. Standing out the monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, first San Martín de Turieno, where the biggest remaining fragment of the Cross of Christ is preserved and venerated.
