The Polaciones valley offers to the tourist the encounter with one of the most beautiful landscapes of Cantabria. The villages that still conserve their typical features and traditional architecture, with buildings that conserve between their stones a great historical past; the forests of beech and scon, and the high mountain passes, all it connected by a network of ways and footpaths where the possibility of enjoying and practising hiking and contemplating from the high ground the beauty of the surroundings, it make of the Polaciones valley a place to enjoy a deserved rest.

The rich and varied gastronomy can´t be forgotten, with homemade dishes that will delight the traveller who approaches to visit the valley. A perfect network of roads does that the access to the villages of Polaciones was a continuous enjoying the landscape that we are contemplating around.


In the village of La Laguna, is located "Casa Enrique". It is a building totally restored and adapted to the tourist´s requirements, built with stone and wood, and conserving the traditional architecture of the area. In its outside, it is surrounded by two magnificent closed terraces of forge, one of which has a ramp in order to facilitate the access to those people who can require it because of their limited physical condition. "Casa Enrique" includes an inn which has four double rooms and one marriage room, all of them with bathroom, heating and TV set.


A modern dining room with capacity for 60 people has a large and varied menu that takes great care of the rich traditional gastronomy of the area.

First Courses:

  • Mountain Cantabrian stew.
  • Chickpeas Cantabrian stew.
  • Red and white beans.
  • "Products of the slaugther" of the pork.

Main Courses:

  • T-bone steaks.
  • Young homemade roast lamb (previously ordered).
  • Stewed lamb (previously ordered).
  • Lamb cutlets (of own lambs).

Depending on the time of the year, it will be possible to enjoy delicious meats, such as the wild boar o the venison, hunted in the mountains of this valley, where the beautiful spectacle of the venison´s wooing "berrea" can still be contemplated.

Desserts:

  • Rice with milk.
  • Crème caramel (cooked in the firewood oven).
  • Custard
  • Ewe´s milk cheese.

The establishment has a bakery of firewood oven,where a totally handmade bread can be acquired.
